Privacy & legal
In short
This is a personal website. It uses no cookies, does not profile visitors and never sells or passes on data to anyone. Below is what happens when you open it and how to exercise your rights.
Data controller
Matteo Ferrando, Milan, Italy. For any privacy question, write to matteo@matteoferrando.com.
What happens when you visit
- Hosting. The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as IP address, browser and requested pages to deliver the pages and protect them from attacks. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Statistics. Visits are counted with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies, does not identify individuals and only produces aggregated data.
- Cookies. The site sets no cookies at all, technical or tracking. That is why there is no banner.
- Fonts and images. Fonts and almost all images are served from this same domain, without external services.
Third-party content
Some sections load only when you scroll near them and, to work, your browser contacts these services directly, which receive your IP address:
- Recent thoughts: LinkedIn posts are delivered through the SociableKit service.
- Projects: the list of public projects comes from GitHub and the MyDiveLog image from mydivelog.site.
Links to LinkedIn, Instagram, GitHub, Amazon and other sites lead to pages with their own privacy rules, which I do not control.
If you write to me
If you email matteo@matteoferrando.com, I use your address and message only to reply, and keep them for as long as the conversation requires. The message passes through Cloudflare, which forwards it to my Proton mailbox.
Why this data is processed
Technical data keeps the site working and secure (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Data you send by email is used to reply to you (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
Your rights
You can ask at any time to access, correct, delete or restrict your data, object to its processing or receive it in a portable format (Articles 15–22 GDPR) by writing to matteo@matteoferrando.com. You can also lodge a complaint with the Italian data protection authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.
